Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will my distance learning course credits count the same as traditional courses?

A: Yes they will.

Q: How do I contact my instructor if I have a question about the course material?

A: You may contact your instructor through email or, if your instructor's Web site has a "bulletin board," you may post a message. Instructors will also provide office hours during which you may reach them by phone, and some courses have scheduled "chat" sessions during which the instructor interacts with multiple students at once. DL Instructors' email and office phone numbers are also printed in the course schedule. If you know your instructor's name or department, you may find his/her contact information in the online faculty directory.

Q: Who do I contact if I have technical difficulties with my Internet?

A: Don't panic. First, contact your instructor and let him/her know about the problem. DL instructors are very understanding. All DL instructors' email and office phone numbers are listed in your printed course schedule, or, if you know your Instructor's name you may find his/her email and phone number in the online faculty directory.

If you are having technical problems in an Internet course, contact the Alamo Community College District's Technical Support at 220-1616.

Q: How do I know which book to buy?

A: Contact your instructor and ask him or her for the textbook's ISBN number. When you have the correct information, you may order online from our bookstore through the following hyperlink.
